June 11, 2018 – A Tribute to Linda Ronstadt “For the Love of Linda”

June 11, 2018, Sister Sister performed a special musical tribute to Linda Ronstadt titled “For the Love of Linda” to a sold-out audience with standing room only. The show came to fruition after meeting with Gracie Saenz, the Houston LULAC Council 60 President. The Council presented the idea to Linda Ronstadt for her approval who then sent a Thank You letter to LULAC acknowledging the show, scholarship and its importance to the Hispanic community. The show included two distinctive performances.
The first performance, Sister Sister y Los Misters performed Ronstadt’s 70’s legendary rock songs. The second performance Melinda Joyce and Patricia Lynn dressed in full Mariachi attire and performed Mexican Canciones from Linda Ronstadt’s acclaimed CD “Canciones de Mi Padre”. They were accompanied by Jose
Longoria y Mariachi de Las Americas.
With the show a great success, proceeds went to fund scholarships for students. A special music scholarship was given on behalf of Sister Sister to a student. On this special evening, Melinda Joyce and Patricia Lynn were recognized for their tribute to Linda Ronstadt, their Grammy nomination for their CD “A Little Bit of Texas, A Little Bit of Mexico” and for their musical contributions here in the states and abroad.
With Resolutions received from Senator Carol Alvarado, State Leader Christina Morales and former City Councilman Robert Gallegos, Melinda Joyce and Patricia Lynn are proud to represent their East End neighborhood Magnolia Park. Due to the success of Sister Sister, LULAC started a scholarship in the name of Sister Sister.
